Grief is a deeply personal experience, and there is no right or wrong way to grieve. Whether you've lost a loved one, experienced the end of a relationship, or are grieving another significant loss or life change, you don't have to face it alone.
I offer a safe, compassionate, and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly, make sense of your feelings, and move through your grief at your own pace. Together, we can help you find a way forward while honouring what has been lost.
Anxiety can affect every part of life. You may find yourself worrying, overthinking, expecting the worst, or struggling to switch your mind off. It can leave you feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, or stuck, and may also affect your sleep and physical wellbeing.
Everyone experiences anxiety differently, so there is no one-size-fits-all approach. Together, we can explore what may be contributing to your anxiety, understand the patterns behind it, and find ways to manage it. Depending on what suits you, I may draw on person-centred counselling, mindfulness, grounding, psychoeducation, or CBT-informed tools.
The aim is to help you understand yourself better, feel more confident in managing anxious thoughts and feelings, and move towards feeling more settled and in control.
Living with ADHD or Autism can sometimes mean experiencing the world differently from those around you. You may find everyday situations, relationships, emotions, communication, or changes in routine more challenging, while also having strengths and ways of thinking that are uniquely your own.
Counselling can provide a space to understand yourself better, make sense of your experiences, and explore ways of managing the challenges that life can bring. The focus is on accepting who you are, recognising your strengths, and finding ways of working with yourself rather than against yourself.
Depression can affect your mood, energy levels, motivation, sleep, appetite, and overall sense of wellbeing. You may feel persistently low, emotionally numb, or find it difficult to enjoy things you once found meaningful. Even everyday tasks can start to feel overwhelming or exhausting.
Counselling can support you in understanding your experience of depression, exploring possible underlying factors, and finding ways to cope with difficult thoughts and feelings. Depending on your needs, we may use person-centred counselling, psychoeducation, mindfulness, self-compassion, or CBT-informed tools.
The aim is to help you feel supported, develop a clearer understanding of what you are going through, and gradually rebuild a sense of hope, balance, and connection in your life.
Loneliness can feel heavy and isolating, affecting your mood, energy, sleep, and overall wellbeing. You might feel disconnected from others, or alone even when you're not physically by yourself.
Counselling offers a supportive space to talk about how you're feeling, understand what might be contributing to your loneliness, and gently explore ways to feel more connected. We may draw on person-centred counselling, mindfulness, self-compassion, psychoeducation, or CBT-informed tools, depending on what feels right for you.
The aim is to help you feel less alone, more understood, and gradually build a greater sense of connection and belonging.
Anger is a normal human emotion, but it can sometimes feel difficult to manage or understand. It may affect your relationships, your work, or how you feel about yourself.
Counselling can provide a space to explore what sits beneath your anger, understand your triggers, and find healthier ways to express and manage difficult emotions.
Work can sometimes become overwhelming, leaving you feeling under pressure, exhausted, or unable to switch off. You may find yourself constantly thinking about work, struggling to set boundaries, or feeling that you can never do enough.
Counselling can provide a space to step back, understand what is contributing to your stress, and explore healthier ways of managing pressure, boundaries, and expectations.
Relationships can be rewarding, but they can also bring conflict, hurt, uncertainty, and difficult emotions. You may be struggling with communication, boundaries, trust, or changes within a relationship.
Counselling offers a space to explore what is happening, understand your feelings and needs, and consider what you want moving forward — without judgement.
There are times in life when we can lose confidence in ourselves and what we are capable of. You may find yourself second-guessing decisions, worrying about what others think, or feeling that you're not quite good enough.
Counselling can provide an opportunity to explore these feelings and begin to develop a stronger belief in yourself. Together, we can work towards helping you feel more comfortable with who you are and more confident in your own thoughts, choices and abilities.
OCD can be exhausting and can take up a lot of mental and emotional space. You may experience unwanted or upsetting thoughts, worries that are difficult to let go of, or feel the need to check, repeat, or do things in a particular way to feel reassured.
Counselling can offer a calm, non-judgemental space to talk about what you are experiencing and begin to make sense of the impact it is having on your everyday life.
Counselling isn't only for when things feel difficult. Sometimes you may simply want to understand yourself better, make changes, build confidence, or find a greater sense of balance in your life.
This can be a space to pause, reflect on what matters to you, and explore where you would like to go next. Together, we can look at your thoughts, feelings, relationships and experiences, helping you make choices that feel right for you.
Life is full of changes, some exciting and some difficult. Starting a new chapter, changing direction, becoming an empty nester, retiring, or simply reaching a point where you want something different can bring a mixture of emotions and uncertainty.
You don't have to be struggling or have a particular problem to come to counselling. Sometimes change brings emotions and thoughts that need time to be processed. Counselling can give you the space to make sense of what has changed, understand how you feel about it, and begin to look towards what comes next.
Growing up can bring worries and challenges that aren't always easy to put into words. Anxiety, school worries, friendships, changes at home, or moving through different stages of life can all feel overwhelming.
As an accredited children and young people's counsellor, I offer a safe, supportive space where children and young people can express what they are experiencing in ways that feel comfortable for them. Through talking, play and creative approaches, we can explore their feelings, build confidence and help them find ways to manage the changes and challenges they face.
Psychotherapeutic Counsellor
Hello, I am Linda Lockley I am qualified Integrative Psychotherapist and I am registered as a counsellor with the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS). I abide by their professional Code of Ethics. I attend regular clinical supervision to ensure that the help you receive is as effective as possible.
I believe that counselling is not about fixing someone, it is a journey that we take together and if we are given a space that is safe and our voice is heard we have the ability within ourselves to gain a better understanding to heal and grow. Together we can also equip you with the tools to manage lifes bumps in the road.
No two people need the same thing from therapy, so I don't work to a fixed formula. Instead I draw on a few different approaches and shape them around you.
Most of my work starts from a person-centred place. That simply means the sessions are yours — space to explore your thoughts, feelings and beliefs without being judged or steered, and to be properly heard. You're the expert on you, and my job is to help you get to know that expert a little better.
Alongside that, we can bring in CBT, mindfulness and relaxation techniques to build up a personal toolkit — practical things you can take away and use when you need them, in and out of the room.
Finding the right counsellor matters. A free Zoom or telephone consultation gives us time to talk through your questions and see whether working together feels right—before you commit to a paid session.
Sessions last 45 minutes.
Book online or contact me directly — whichever feels right for you.
I also offer sessions from my office in the Hall Green, Birmingham area.
The free initial consultation gives us time to get to know one another, talk about what has brought you to counselling, and discuss what you hope to gain from it. For example, you may want help managing anxiety or stress, building confidence, or becoming less self-critical.
I will explain the approaches I use, and you will have time to ask any questions. You are also welcome to ask questions at any point during our work together.
This varies depending on your needs. Short-term work typically lasts between six and twelve sessions, while longer-term therapy may continue for several months. We will review our work regularly to keep it focused, discuss your progress, and consider together when the time feels right to end.
Sessions usually begin weekly, although we can discuss what works best during the initial consultation. As our work together comes to an end, we may reduce the frequency to fortnightly or monthly sessions.
That’s okay. We can reschedule your appointment, but please give at least 24 hours’ notice. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice will incur a £10 fee.
